BTCKE believes in the capacity of all, especially young adults. BTCKE offers a variety of options for young adults to be part of our work. Each opportunity creates an opportunity to develop leadership capacity, learn community organizing skills, grow self-awareness and mature into a true team player. Read below for more information about joining our work.
YALT Teams
YALT teams are trained in community organizing skills developed by Marshall Ganz of Harvard Kennedy School. Teams are paired with our partner organizations to recruit and mobilize needed resources. We have currently closed the 2012 application process and will begin accepting applications for the 2013 year in October.
Meet the 2012 Teams
“Young people come of age with a critical eye and a hopeful heart. It’s that combination of critical eye and hopeful heart that brings change. That’s one reason why so many young people were and are involved in movements for social change.”
Marshall Ganz
Fellowships and Internships
BTCKE has a variety of internships including posts for Kenyan and international young adults. Read below to learn more about the various opportunities with BTCKE.
International Opportunities
International interns play a crucial part in bridging the global community. All interns are required to fundraise their ticket cost as well as an agreed upon contribution to the organization. Once in Kenya interns are provided with a place to stay and a reasonable stipend for food and transportation. We are currently hiring for the following positions.
Organizing Fellowship
BTCKE is looking for an Organizing Fellow to join the program in July of 2012. The Organizing Fellow will work primarily with BTCKE’s YALT Program. Work responsibilities include facilitating our YA Training Sessions, coaching individuals and YA teams on skills/campaign strategy and creating strategy for the 2013 program year. For more information, contact us at apply@bethechangekenya.org.
AIESEC Intern
BTCKE is currently recruiting an AISEC Intern to launch our income generating activities. BTCKE seeks to establish a reliable source of income for the organization through facilitating training seminars on leadership as well as creating sustainable income sources (rain harvest projects, gardens). We are recruiting a business minded young-adult with project management experience to design and launch both of these ventures. For more information, contact us at apply@bethechangekenya.org.
Local Opportunities
BTCKE hires interns who are seeking to fulfill their course requirements. In the past we have hired social work, communications, development and IT Interns. However, we are currently not recruiting for any positions.
